This year, Skepticon has partnered with Secular Woman to help more aspiring skeptics make it here – but we need your help! This is your opportunity to give the gift of the Skepticon experience to someone who otherwise wouldn’t be able to come.
We’ll be posting a few of our grant applications every week. Read their stories. If you’re moved, help them out!
You can also donate to Secular Woman’s fund (or put their fundraising widget on your website!) - they’re providing full and partial funding for travel grants submitted by women.
Current Grants
Sheri
“I have come out of the closet to my family and, as a result, have experienced a great deal of Christian sermonizing.”
Anne
“A travel grant would allow me to stay involved while I develop my skills and further my education to help further our goals.”
Jason
“Telling people I was atheist was somehow harder even than coming out as gay. Having been kicked out of my home after high school, I now work to support myself and am trying to put myself through school for a Mathematics degree one course at a time.”
Grant FAQ
How do I apply for a grant?
The application is embedded in our registration form. If you’re eligible and check the box labeled “I’m interested in receiving travel aid,” the application will appear at the end of the form.
What happens if the person I want to support gets too many donations?
If donors give too much toward a specific grant, the excess funds will be used to help fulfill other grants. Your gift will definitely help someone make it to Skepticon!
Does my donation go to Skepticon or directly to the individual seeking the grant?
All donations will go through Skepticon or Secular Woman. In some cases, we’ll be paying for travel (e.g. booking flights) on behalf of the recipient to ensure that funds are spent appropriately.
